My New Site!

As of Monday, I officially have a new site placement!

Since PC removed me from Gobabis on July 9th, I've been wandering about the country staying with other volunteers. I am deeply grateful for the support and hospitality all the volunteers have shown me - I honestly probably wouldn't have made it through these past ten months if it weren't for all of them! While I have really enjoyed seeing more of the country and visiting the sites of my fellow PCVs to see the awesome work they are doing out here, I am extremely happy to be able to start work afresh myself. I'm quite pleased to finally have a place to call home after six weeks of being homeless!

So my new site is in the northwestern region of Kunene, in the town of Opuwo. I will be working on the grounds of the state hospital at the Minisitry of Health and Social Services Regional Directorate office as an Information Education Commuication Advisor. I am actually taking the position from a PCV who is going home early (she's getting married!). She specializes in graphic design so that is primarily what the job currently entails. However, since the job description is rather broad, I am going to try to tailor the assignment to better suit my strengths and desires. So I am hoping to incorporate more community-based work. I shall attempt to keep you all posted on whatever projects I develop out there. I've already got a few things in mind and I am anxious to get things started!
